Design and Specifications

According to well-known tipster Yogesh Brar, who claims to have allegedly seen a “working prototype” of the Phone 2a, says the new smartphone will have a punch hole in the center of the display to house the selfie camera. Further, the dual cameras on the rear will be horizontally placed, which is different from what is available on the Phone (1) and the Phone (2).

Dylan Roussel, an Android app developer, also shared an animation video on X (formerly Twitter) leaking information on the rumored Nothing Phone (2a). The upcoming Phone (2a) will sport the model number A142 and may have the codenames Pacman or Aero.

The Nothing Phone (2a) is rumored to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset, built on a 4nm process and expected to provide extraordinary performance. It incorporates two Cortex A715 cores at 2.8GHz, six Cortex A510 cores at 2.0GHz, and a Mali-G610 MP4 GPU.

Other leaked details suggest the (2a) will feature a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. On the camera front, it will sport a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture housed in the punch hole on the display. In contrast, the dual rear cameras are expected to feature a 50MP primary lens with OIS (optical image stabilization) and an 8MP ultrawide lens.

Further, the rear cameras will be surrounded by three Glyph LED light strips, a signature setup borrowed from the Nothing Phone (1) and Nothing Phone (2) smartphones. Besides these features, the smartphone will also sport a massive 4,920mAh battery and run Nothing OS 2.5, based on Android 14, out of the box.

Launch Details

Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to officially launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 event, following the company’s confirmation that it is hosting a ‘Nothing to see’ event in Barcelona on February 27th.
